BBQ Shrimp

Submitted by Michelle Maggs

I got this one off the internet! BBQ shrimp is a popular dish served in New Orleans, made famous at Pascals Manale Restaurant. I sometimes make this as a first course when serving a Mardi Gras-style feast.

Ingredients

8 lbs. of whole shrimp
1/2 lb. of butter
1 cup of olive oil
8 oz. of chili sauce
3 tbs. of Worcestershire sauce
2 lemons, sliced
4 cloves of garlic, chopped
3 tbs. of lemon juice
1 tbs. of parsley
2 tsp. of paprika
2 tsp. of oregano
2 tsp. of red pepper
1 tsp. of Tabasco (or more for spice)
3 tbs. of Liquid Smoke
Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Wash shrimp and spread out on a shallow pan

  2. Combine ingredients in sauce pan over low heat and pour over shrimp

  3. Refrigerate, basting and turning shrimp every 30 minutes while refrigerated for several hours

  4. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes, turning shrimp at 10 minute intervals

  5. Serve in soup bowl with French bread to dip in sauce
